Title: Pure Joy and Play

It has been more than three years since my time spent in the great country of Botswana. And oh how I long to return to this incredible place. The grace of the people, an abundance of wildlife, and the diversity of landscapes; each evoked strong emotions in me to want to linger in this lovely African country.

Upon my return from spending the morning on the Okavango Delta, I was approached by this beautiful young Botswana girl, who was intrigued by my cameras and gear. She paused from collecting water in her jugs along the water’s edge of the delta, walked over to me with her incredible smile, and asked me to photograph her. I was delighted too, but I could see her older sister had completed her water gathering and I could not leave her out of the fun. So I was able to take these wonderful images.

Phototherapy lesson learned: It’s ok to take a moment to pause from your project. Never be so busy that you can’t enjoy an instant of pleasure while you work. You deserve a second to feel the good energy from your smile.

A beautiful Saturday, October morning in Fort Greene Park located in Brooklyn New York. Gathered together for the Annual Great Pupkin Event are thousands of viewers and more than a hundred dog-contestants dressed in their best Halloween costumes. The dogs and their enthusiastic owners strut their stuff across the viewing area. They have come to be judged in this fabulous competition. This is like no other gathering in New York City and it has grown in popularity over the years as a must-go-to event the weekend closest to Halloween. The presentation did not disappoint.

I was invited by the promoters and organizers to photograph this colorful and fun dog-pageant. I had no idea what to expect, but I must say I totally enjoyed my time creating these beautiful images.

I have composed this video to showcase the highlights of the images I captured. I hope that you will enjoy them as you view these adorable canines and those that love them.

Motivation Monday: A Precious Moment with Steve McCurry

This past Sunday at the Art New York I stood side-by-side as seen in this photograph with the gentleman that spoke those words, National Geographic's most famous photographer, Steve McCurry.

Several weeks ago I shared with you a Motivation Monday quote by one of my favorite photographers. This past Sunday at the Art New York I stood side-by-side as seen in this photograph with the gentleman that spoke those very words, National Geographic's most famous photographer, Steve McCurry.

Steve is an incredible photographer, freelancer, and photojournalist. He is most famous for his National Geographic cover photo titled “Afghan Girl” photographed in 1984. His journey as a photographer has inspired my own journey. I am a follower of Steve’s work in the news, website and on Instagram, I recommend his Instagram page if you have a love for beautifully captured photographs about humanity. I must say, I am on cloud nine from this experience.

Thank you, Steve, for pausing for this precious moment.
Thank you Jully for being so sweet about the moment and snapping this image.

LMNOP Selling Workshop at Herman Miller/Benhar

The event was hosted and presented by Herman Miller/Benhar. Our presenter, John Dano/Benhar has trained thousands of sales professionals, with over a decade of sales training experience and is well known for his method "Scientific Selling".

Ron+Foster-9890.jpg

I am so excited about the images I captured and produced for the LMNOP networking event. They sponsored a workshop on the subject of "Selling Skills".  LMNOP provides "Leadership, Mentoring, Networking, Opportunity for Architecture + Design Professionals".  I am the photographer for our events. How lucky am I? I am both an interior designer and a photographer. So I have the chance to participate in the events and photographing them too. The joy of experiencing my two loves at once is priceless.

The event was hosted and presented by Herman Miller/Benhar. Our presenter, John Dano/Benhar has trained thousands of sales professionals, with over a decade of sales training experience and is well known for his method "Scientific Selling".

The workshop covered:

1. How to build instant rapport with clients and at networking events.

2. How to sell your ideas, designs, and projects.

3. How to use science to build lasting relationships with customers and key relationships.  This 70-minute program was relentlessly energetic and result-driven and injected humor, passion, and a strong dose of reality into the sales process.  This was not your ordinary workshop.

Here are my images from the event.

RLP Featured Photo Shoot: NYC Man of Style

It brings me joy when my clients are so excited about images we created from their photo shoots. I believe a shoot should be a fun experience.

It brings me joy when my clients are so excited about the images we created from their photo shoots. I believe a shoot should be a fun experience. For me, it is all about my subject and that is my client. My client here was an absolute trooper as we shot his images on a cold spring morning in Dumbo Brooklyn. He had a specific goal in mind for his images and we were not going to let anything get in our way to prevent us from achieving it.

These are several photos from his photo shoot.

Soul Summit July '18

The rhythms from the Soul Summit located in Fort Greene Brooklyn could be felt deep within one's soul. It crossed economic boundaries, causing poor and rich to forget their status as they danced. Young and old alike danced carefree as the DJ mixed the music. It's an event like no other in New York City.

The power of music. It can bring people together from all walks of life.  It also has the ability to unite ethnicity, religion, and folks from all sexual orientation.

Can we say that music is a gift from heaven? Is there anything else in the world that unites people regardless of language? It is said that "music is the great uniter".

The Soul Summit can be called heaven on earth to some. The thumping bass of the house music permeating the body. The sounds of the repetitious beats placing the crowd into a hypnotic trance take place twice every year in Fort Greene Park. People travel from Canada, Europe and many parts of the United States to attend.

RLP_3380.jpg

Thousands of people sprawled out across the park lawns and hillsides enjoying friends and family as the music played in the background. There was the smell of barbeque and food cooking on the grill. Vendors gathered around the base of the Prison Ship Martyrs' Monument selling their specialties.

I look forward to photographing this event each year. The Soul Summit is a photographer's paradise. There is never a lack of subjects to photograph and showcase their love for this event. Some folks come dressed in their best Afrocentric look. The beautiful pageantry of colorful outfits and the authenticity of ethnic pride can be seen on their faces as they walked the park grounds.

Here are some special moments I was able to capture with my camera:
