Thankful Thursday: Listen to Create
I find when taking on a new client, it’s important to take the time to listen. I am asked, what is the most important skill needed to be a photographer? I always will reply, it’s the skill of listening. I have found that it is a skill in constant and continual development.

Listening to my client or a potential one makes me better informed of their expectations. It arms me with the necessary tools to better execute the photography I have been hired to perform.
I ask all types of questions about their life and goals. What will they be using the images for? Who will be the viewers of the photos? Where will the images live?
Some may think it is invasive to ask so many questions or to develop a dialogue with your client, however, I have never had a client reject the time to connect. I have found from my experience I have shot better photographs for doing so. Listening builds trust.
“A good thirty minutes of dialogue make the soil ready for planting the seeds for an excellent twenty minutes of shooting”.
I conclude with this thought; when you are researching to hire a photographer. Make sure they know how to listen. You might gain a friend in the process.🙂
The Month of May Best Shoot: The Man of Style is Back
The month of May was a great month for RonLouis Photos. I photograph some lovely events, street fairs, an opera, branding campaigns, and headshots. All of these occasions I found to be very gratifying. But my best engagement of the month goes to multiple brand ambassador Eric Rodriguez. Eric was one of the models for my monthly RLP Urban Photographer's Meetup. He came ready to do business with the photographers and their cameras. He was punctual, dressed and ready to be photographed. He also had some accessories to change up his look within the frames. He brought with him his wife/stylist and his "A" game. All of these elements created the foundation for a successful photo shoot.
This was my second photo shoot with Mr. Rodriguez this year. He knows what it takes to create a stream of handsome images to showcase his brand. He has gained phenomenal results by investing in his branding story.

This was my second photo shoot with Mr. Rodriguez this year. He knows what it takes to create a stream of handsome images to showcase his brand. He has gained phenomenal results by investing in his branding story. A little over a year ago he had an idea about creating a business around men's style and today he represents several brands. He did not stand around waiting for life to happen to him; no, he made life happen for himself. I am proud to be his photographer of choice. You can find his work on his Instagram @ericrnycstyle. Here are some of my favorite photos from our last shoots together.
RLP Featured Photo Shoot: NYC Man of Style
It brings me joy when my clients are so excited about images we created from their photo shoots. I believe a shoot should be a fun experience.
It brings me joy when my clients are so excited about the images we created from their photo shoots. I believe a shoot should be a fun experience. For me, it is all about my subject and that is my client. My client here was an absolute trooper as we shot his images on a cold spring morning in Dumbo Brooklyn. He had a specific goal in mind for his images and we were not going to let anything get in our way to prevent us from achieving it.
These are several photos from his photo shoot.
