The Fire Dome

Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland 2021

On March 19th of 2021, there was a geological event occurring on the Icelandic Peninsula. The world was introduced to a new erupting volcano called Fagradalsfjall. There had not been a volcanic eruption on the peninsula in 800 years. As soon as the news broke, I knew without a doubt I would be returning to Iceland to capture this once-in-a-lifetime event.

What’s unique about this volcano is its proximity. Most volcanoes in the world are located in places out of reach to the public. The Icelandic volcano is less than an hour's drive from Reykjavik, and a 2-hour hike from the parking area. However, with each passing day, the landscape continues to change, and the ability to get close to the volcano diminishes. The surrounding areas are filling with molten lava creating vast lava fields. I was lucky to arrive just in time. I had a small window to get to my vantage point to photograph the volcano because of the approaching rainy weather forecasted for the rest of my stay. Less than a week later the hiking path leading there was covered by the lava flow and now can only be reached by helicopter. Timing is everything.

My climb to almost 4,000ft. the summit was no easy task. The winds were blowing at a constant 50 mph and gusting to a strong 65 mph. The hike along the rugged terrain of Iceland’s newest erupting volcano was nothing less than challenging, but I made it to my destination. As the whipping winds and dust blasted my face and camera gear I clicked away to capture this majestic sight. Nothing wonderful comes with ease. I will never forget this amazing hike and encounter with nature.

On Paper Print Details
A top-notch photography industry third-party lab prints photos. You choose between the following:
• Printed on Kodak Professional Endura Supra paper, making this print beautiful and color-rich;
• Fine Art Low texture: A smooth, matte surface made from 90% sustainable bamboo fibers. Preserve your images
on a non-fading surface and keep colors looking sharp without a heavy dose of texture.
• A print is full-bleed with no white borders.
• Other printing formats and options can be arranged upon request.
• Please note that colors may slightly differ from how it appears due to the color variances of your monitor or
screen. A watermark will not appear in the photo.

On Canvas Print Details
• Canvas Prints are available in 20 sizes, from 8x10" to 30x40".
• Each size is available in two depths: 0.75" and 1.5".
• Images are printed on museum-grade cotton canvas and are laminated by a protective gloss for added longevity.
• Each piece arrives ready to hang with wall bumpers and a pre-installed sawtooth hanger or wire hanger.
• Canvas Prints can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
Design Tips
• When designing your Canvas Prints, you may choose to have the image wrap around each of the four sides or to
add a white or black border to the sides of the canvas.
• Indicate which choice you prefer. If not indicated, the image will be wrapped around each of the four sides

On Metal Print Details
• Metal Prints, the most vibrant of all print media, are created by infusing an image onto raw aluminum.
• Metal Prints are available in 17 different sizes, from 4x6" to 24x36".
• Display options include a black shadow mount, an aluminum easel, a float mount hanger, and stainless steel
standoffs (available for additional charges upon special request).
• All Metal Prints are 1mm thick and are finished with a protective white gloss.
• The metal substrate used in production has tiny bumps and imperfections that make each piece unique.
Our Quality Control team will only order a reprint of the piece if an imperfection distracts from the image itself.

Cleaning & Care Instructions
• Keep Metal Prints indoors and out of direct sunlight.
• Handle the surface with care to avoid scratching.
• Avoid stacking Metal Prints on top of each other, as surface abrasions may occur.
• Metal Prints can be cleaned with a dust cloth or with a glass cleaner and a clean rag.

Design Tips:
• When designing your Metal Prints, there is a 1/8" bleed around standard-sized Metal Prints.
